Beatriz C. Chernikoff:Hubby bought this for me as a gift. Omg, this journal is the bomb! Cover feels nice and well-constructed, red color is vibrant, elastics and single bookmark ribbon are sturdy. Pages are a cream color to combat eye fatigue, plus pages are nice and smooth and don’t feel flimsy at all. The dot matrix is not only a perfect light gray color (not distracting nor invisible), but the dots are well-aligned across a spread. Journal lays flat when open.Because the paper is 100gsm, there is less ghosting. As you can see in my photos, only the Uniball Vision Exact bled somewhat. Of course I expected the pigment and dye ink pads to bleed, but I did them in case people were curious. Also if you can see in the photos, there are about 58 dots across a spread, and 38 dots down a page.I highly recommend you order from D Notebooks USA, awesome service!—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Michelle C:I Absolutely love this notebook – I bought it to start my first Bullet Journal and it’s awesome!! Love the quality of the pages very little bleed when using colored pens. I have had a few times where I’ve accidentally ripped the perforated page a bit that’s the only downside. I have yet to want to tear a page out 😉 The cover is beautiful and I love the elephant design. The grid is great for my purpose. However, I’d like to try dots next time only because they wouldn’t show up as much. Just wish you had elephant/dot options. Pocket in the back is great. Very high quality! I will buy again for sure and have recommended to others.—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Britta:This book is very much like described. Lays flat, includes please return memo on patterned front page, does not include index or page numbers, all pages are perforated for tearing out (this has not yet presented a problem). If you have previously used a LT1917, the dot grid is the same color and size, but extends one dot further width wise and the Dingbats paper is 20gsm higher and a slight bit creamier. It includes one bookmark and a pen loop. There is a small logo symbol on the bottom outer corner of each page if you plan on adding page numbers, you’ll need to work around them. The cover is beautiful and leather textured. I’ll include photos of the mentioned details as well as ghosting of sharpie pens on a pen test page to help gauge paper thickness visually.—⭐⭐⭐⭐

Chris:I have purchased many Moleskine books over the years to write with ink based fountain pens. I have loved them! They hold up well to heavy amounts of ink laydown and maintain a nice smooth paper feel.
However, this most recent notebook did NOT. I noticed that when using a fountain pen, the ink bled into the page and feathered heavily which makes it look cheap and sloppy. (see picture) The only difference between the notebook I love and the Blue one I just received was that the Good black one I have was made in China and the new Blue one (this one) was made in Vietnam. The paper feels slightly thinner in the new blue one.
Overall, I am disappointed in the quality of the new one, and am shocked that the quality between different color Moleskine books is so variable.Note: The pictures were written with the same pen, same ink, and taken with the same camera.—⭐

Yuriem:I purchased this notebook because I wanted to start bullet journaling. The Leuchtturm 1917 seems to be the most popular notebook for the bullet journal method, but I actually wanted a notebook that DIDN’T have pre-numbered pages or an index page already in there. I’m loving this one so far! I’ve had moleskines in the past so I’m not worried about the durability. I love that it is dotted because it allows much more freedom for the user to do whatever they want with it, as opposed to the grid and ruled types that are very structured and rigid (and frankly, an eyesore to look at). Something to keep an eye out for is ink bleeding or being visible through the pages, so if you’re worried about any fountain pens or markers you like to use, you can set aside a page just for testing those out. I only wish that this notebook was more readily available; it doesn’t seem to be available in stores anywhere (I’ve only seen the soft cover dotted ones available in store, not the hard cover). From what I’ve seen, the dotted hard cover also only seems to be available in black and not any other colors (though the soft cover dotted ones come in a variety of colors). I’m really hoping that they become more easily available because I don’t plan on buying any other kind of notebook for my bullet journaling!—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Zach Leto:I’ve been keeping daily journal entries for the past four years, and this was the first time I’ve gone with a Moleskine journal. So here is what I’ve noticed:
Right off the bat, you can tell that this is a well-made journal. It’s very sturdy with crisp pages, a nice elastic band, and a handy bookmark that I’ve tugged on a couple of times (unintentionally) and it has stayed. The pages have very little bleed-through with ink despite the fact that they are so thin. I’m also a fan of the yellowed look. The warmness of that color under lamplight makes writing in this journal relaxing. I have literally traveled around the world with this journal in my bag and despite all the jostling and cramming, it has maintained its shape perfectly.
There is no doubt that Moleskine makes high-quality journals, but I won’t give it five stars because I still think it is overpriced compared to comparable journals on the market if you are willing to do a little digging. Plus, the first page drives me a little crazy because about a quarter inch of it is stuck to the second page making it a pain to write on those first couple of pages since they do not fold down properly. I realize this is nitpicking a little bit, but I feel like this is something that could be easily avoided in manufacturing.
If you have a couple of extra dollars to spend on a journal, get this and don’t think twice. If you want to be more frugal, shop around a bit, but you can’t go wrong with this notebook.—⭐⭐⭐⭐

theamazonian:For half the price of a Leuchtturm1917 notebook. I 100% recommend this for those who are on a tighter budget but wants quality notebook for their journal/bullet journal. The notebook itself from the outside looks exactly like the Leuchtturm1917 notebook. It has a pocket at the very back to keep pics and other what nots.

The paper:
– so smooth to write on
– strong enough to withstand heavy erasing
– thick enough to prevent heavy ghosting

The only downside to this notebook is that it’s not numbered. But that’s not a huge problem to me because that allows me to customize the notebook according to my preference..—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Amanda J:If you’re looking for a dot journal to purchase off of Amazon, stop searching and buy one of these. The quality of this journal/notebook is amazing. The pages are cut perfectly, are pretty decent thickness to prevent bleeding, and all of the dots are uniform throughout all the pages in the book. I wrote my name on the last page with a brush tip marker and it did not bleed through, although it is visiable. These brush tip markers bleed through normal Mead Notebooks, so I considered this notebook great! I have included pictures below and all of them have been taken with flash.—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Amazon Customer:Purchased this for my bullet journal because I didn’t want to break the bank getting the more popular brands, but this is just as amazing and can replace the Moleskine and Leuchtturm1917 dotted journals! The color comes just as shown, the pages are the perfect thickness (I use sharpie pens and it doesn’t bleed through) and it also lays pretty flat. Obsessed. No need to pay $25+ for a journal when you’ve got Unni!.—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

jaycee:I don’t know that I’ll ever buy a different notebook. Exceeded my expectations. Love the colour of the page (won’t miss the white pages). I’ve never used a notebook that has dots or dashes rather than lined pages. Its a lovely “in between” for blank pages and lined pages. LIke others have said the lovely leatherette feel for the cover is a lovely bonus and the pen holder useful. THE BEST part of it all is the quality of the paper. Thick enough that I have do bleed. I hate wrtiting on the other side where the bleeds shows now its a non-issue. The feel of the pen on this paper is simply incredible for the price of the notebook. So much so that even notes that I would normally use the laptop for I find myself reaching for the LEMONE as the writing experience is simply addictive. THanks LEMONE keep on doing what you are doing. Don’t compromise!!—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Brad Gilmer:I love this notebook. The paper quality is excellent. I write with a Fine point fountain pen and get very little bleed-through with this paper–only in places where I intentionally make certain areas extra bold. It writes very smoothly. The paper is coated enough that the ink does not bleed out but also absorbs/dries fast enough to not smear.

The binding is very good, and it does fold flat for ease of writing all the way to the margin on both sides of the sheets. The pen loop is a nice feature.

This makes a great personal journal. I wish they had an A4 size that I could use for work.—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

KC Royals Fan from Independence, MO:Very sturdy, durable, wellmade and nice looking! Easy to hold and write in to take notes in Sunday School and church! I bought one, liked it and immediately ordered two more to keep for the future or give as a gift! It’s easy to carry and I like the hardcover and the elastic strap which holds it closed to protect the pages. The pages are sturdy and thick. There is no bleed through or ghosting on the pages from the other side. Very good price for something so well made, practical and useable!—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Wendy:this is amazing watercolor album! perfect size to get down the details but not spending a lots of time.
I found the paper absorb water pretty quickly compares to other water color paper i used. So if you are doing the wet-painting method, try to apply more clear water as your first layer.!—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Olechka:Great product, perfect size for sketching on the go. I use watercolor and it takes the medium well and doesn’t warp too much. Opens flat to scan artworks with ease.—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sarah C.:This has always been my go-to watercolor sketchbook. I purchased this notebook in 2013 and it served me very well. A couple of weeks ago, I purchased another and the paper quality is NOT the same. See my comparison photos between the new paper and the old. The paint coverage is spotty on the newer paper and where the old paper was sturdy enough to use both sides, on the new paper, heavy watercolor shows through the reverse.
I’ve read elsewhere that Moleskine paper quality can vary so I probably won’t give up on this notebook all together but I am disappointed the quality on this book is lacking.

ANON:I’ve always used Fabriano Journals but kept seeing art people had created in their Moleskines and finally decided to get one. I was a bit hesitant bc I read many found the paper in the Art Plus Sketchbook Moleskine still unsuitable for some inks and watercolors-which I use often. I also read about differing paper colors ranging from cream to yellow and poor quality control, and how expensive they were compared to these inconsistencies. Well, Moleskines are cheaper than Fabrianos, so I figured what the heck. The sketchbook I received has cream colored paper. The binding lays relatively tight against the spine. The paper is very smooth. It does feel similar to card stock or a manilla folder. Microns do not bleed through or FC Pitt pens.

I have a dip pen I’ve used with KOH-i-knoor ink and Winsor & Newton. They didn’t bleed. I can faintly see outlines or darker spots through the page, but I use both sides and don’t worry about it. Watercolors worked fine but I don’t work exceptionally wet. I’ve not used acrylics yet but I imagine they would work fine. Overall I’m very pleased.—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

dancingfish:I absolutely LOVE this Moleskin. I’m a visual arts student majoring in Graphic Design and I do a lot of sketching and brainstorming in this book. It’s very sturdy so it can take the wear and tear of throwing it into my backpack and being bumped around. I don’t find it too big or bulky or heavy. I prefer the thicker paper so that my pen (writing utensil of choice) doesn’t bleed through. Only when I used a thick felt-tip sharpie did the ink slightly show through (see picture). The corners of the book cover have started to wear out a bit on my book after about a year, but it’s minor and doesn’t bother me. I’ve already filled one sketchbook and am in the process of completing the second. Definitely recommend if you prefer a sturdy sketchbook with a larger and thicker page.—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Teesha Moore:I have used the old version with the less-than-desireable paper but I’m happy to report that Moleskine has changed the paper in the extra large size to the same stuff they put into their 5×8 sketchbook journals. The journal in this listing has the new paper. To verify, there is a note on the back of the label that says “Now with better absorbing paper”. Nice to know they read the reviews and make changes.—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Logan D.:Don’t you hate when you buy a huge notebook and have 2/3 of it left over? Been using these perfect size journals for my classes for years. Thought I’d write a review for those OCD students out there. Typical will only have 5-10 little pages left and it’s the perfect space for finals notes. You feel very complete and satisfied to fill out an entire journal with no wasted sheets of paper. Conservation minded folks would also appreciate these.
I also hang onto my notes from each class and they store great and look very clean and neat. Typically have a variety of colors so I know which class it is without having to label the outside. Looks very professional and you won’t need a huge back breaking back pack with these guys. Small purse or laptop bag is fine. 100% worth the extra price. Use the planner too. Has entire page for notes. Crisp clean feel. The red one in the pic is 2.5 years old. Holds up nicely over time—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

D.Jones:I love these notebooks. I love to doodle–that’s about all I can manage.(I wasn’t gifted by being an arstist.) The front cover can be “doodled” on, as well as the inside front and back. The texture of the pages is almost silky–if you can imagine.lol Regular ballpoint pens glide over the page. I purchased them to be my Bible journal. It’s the perfect size to fit inside the cover of my bible, or even in the pages. College ruled, which is my favorite. I recommend these to friends. I will purchase again!—⭐⭐⭐⭐
MoodyRose79:I go through a lot of notebooks. I have stacks of notebooks that I have started and then tossed aside because I didn’t like them for one reason or another. I hate spiral bound notebooks because the paper rips and it never folds over quite right. But most hard bound journals don’t lay flat. I finally found my perfect journal with Molekine Cahier. The only thing I had to worry about then was- what pen?! I tried Micron and regular ballpoint pens. I ended up with the Pilot G-2 .38mm as my favorite.—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

LadyJupiter:Like other journal users I loved buying journals, but rarely used them entirely or efficiently. When I decided to try Bullet Journaling I knew right away that I wanted to use the small pocket-size Moleskine 5.5″ x 3.5″ -it’s perfect. Each page contains 27 x 16 usable squares, that is -squares that are not so close to an edge that you cannot use them.—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Doc Wood:My last little Moleskine was the the Evernote edition (at twice the price), and that spoiled me, I’m afraid. This one has no top margin and–the horror!–the ink bleeds through the pages, neither of which was true of the Evernote version.
It’s still a cool little book, but I’m beginning to wish I’d gotten the alternative I’d considered. I don’t need all the bells and whistles of the Evernote edition, but you might want to consider for yourself whether the extra money might not be worth the considerably better quality.
Also did not realize there was a difference between dotted and lined: I got the lined, not knowing, but would recommend the dotted for other purchasers. The dots are as easy as lines to write on but, unlike the lines, they virtually disappear when you’re done!—⭐⭐⭐
Gustav:I am on my second one. Lives in my front pocket. An improvement over trying to take notes on my phone. I have noticed a big jump in my productivity – recording and accessing info rapidly instead of working through a passcode and opening apps. A moleskin notebook lacks the memory of a cloud connected phone, but it is always charged up and ready to go.—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Tim Davis:These are tiny, like absurdly tiny, like 2 words per line tiny. If that’s what you need by all means get these. If you want to write more than a haiku per page maybe try something a little bigger. These are nice however just tiny. They will fit in any pocket, even girl pockets that only hold a chapstick, these will fit in there. All the pages are removable which is nice. but so little. I even looked at a ruler before i bought them and i was still surprised how little these are.
I wrote a haiku about these
Tiny little notebook
So many thoughts
I hope I can fit them all—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kate:This is the first time I’ve purchased any of the new-style Volant journals, and I’m sad to say that I was very disappointed. The new version has perforated pages on every page, and the binding is considerably less high-quality/sturdy than the old-style Volants. I was hoping that the perforations wouldn’t be too bad, but I can already tell that this journal will start shedding pages sooner rather than later. Honestly, I can’t really see a good use for this thing. If your goal is to have easily detachable pages for leaving quick notes and so forth…just buy a regular $1.99 notebook?
It’s a real shame. Volant was my preferred “on the go” notebook due to its flexible, durable plastic-type cover, high quality paper, and covered, stitched binding. I guess I’ll need to switch back to Cahier notebooks, even though the paper quality isn’t as good and the covers aren’t as durable. That or find a new brand of notebook.—⭐
Antrea:These notebooks literally fit in the palm of your hand! It’s perfect for little notes. I gave the second to my mom as she’s the one who got me started on these. Perfect for their use!—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fan Fei:Very disappointed. Compare to the old Moleskine I just filled up, the new one’s paper quality is much worse. It’s totally see through and I don’t know how I will be able to write on the backside of the pages without making both sides unreadable. Attached a photo showing a comparison of writing on my old Moleskine and this new one.—⭐

Ebony Enchantres:Love Moleskine consistency and quality. I’m a bullet journaller and though some prefer the other brand – I’m sticking with my Moleskine. I love this Extra Large size which gives you more space to journal. I use one page for a monthly planner, 1 page for my weekly planner and I can even fit 2 daily pages on each page. I found out too late that if I purchase from Moleskine’s site, I could get it personalized. They last me through the entire year including lists, project pages and a few extras in addition to my monthly and weekly pages. Great quality paper, minimum see through on the back of the pages (and I write HARD). I’ve never had a problem with it coming apart at the seams. This black cover seems to absorb greasy stains, finger prints or whatever else happens to it in my handbag every day. Be sure to purchase the appropriate markets, gel pens or pencils for this and it will last you forever!—⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sam Salinas:These moleskine notebooks are my favorite for my college notes. Good paper quality– thick enough for the gel pens I use.
